The St. Mary’s baseball team dropped its season opener yesterday 1-0 at Hillside High School. It was a closely fought contest with Hillside scoring its lone run in the second inning yesterday. The Hilltoppers struggled at the plate throughout the game leaving two runners stranded in the final inning.

Freshman Ulisses led the Hilltoppers at the plate going 2-3. He was also the had an outstanding day on the mound collecting 13 strikeouts while giving up only 2 hits. Gio also had a single for St. Mary’s yesterday. The Hilltoppers are back in action this Friday at 4:00 pm at Diamond Nation where they will face Immaculata High School.
